Art has always been a part of Candy's life in one form or another. It was her focus all through school and her major at Washington University in St. Louis. However, life is constantly surprising, and it presented her with a 20-year distraction from practicing her own art. To rediscover her creativity, she took a soft pastel class and has been in love with their texture, brilliance, and richness ever since.

Candy is a charter member of the MidAmerica Pastel Society and a juried member of the Greater Kansas City Art Association. She has attended workshops with several nationally known artists such as Sally Strand, Elizabeth Mowry, and Doug Dawson, in addition to ongoing classes with many wonderful local pastellists. She continually enjoys the "art class" experience for the comraderie and idea exchange with fellow artists. Candy has a studio in her home where she continues to study and explore, striving to translate her perceptions of the world into pastel.
