Working from my own photographs of special places visited has been most rewarding. I have found though that one doesn't have to travel far to find subjects for good paintings, and even being close to home can be an adventure. My work does not often show human or other animal forms, but there is always a presence of life. There may be footprints in the sand or a man-made object, but the simple ground cover and foliage with the surrounding terrain is all you need to know there is life all around you. I relive each experience of being there through my artwork, and I try to give the viewer the sense of wanting to be there too.
