I can remember being so excited as a small child about color in nature, that I had my father stop the car so I could collect the "pretty colors" of weeds in the ditch. It was the beginning of my wanting to express my wonderment and "own" something of natures beauty.

It is often with the same joy that I delve into the act of painting. I am transformed by the process. I only hope that others will share in some of the joy as a result of my work. I love discovering ways to make the light skip across a surface, or bounce from someone's hair in a portrait. I confess to being in love with portraiture, human and animal, but then I love doing landscapes as well. I think all subject matter is an opportunity to be transformed by the wonderment of creation.
