Review of 6th Annual Small Painting Show at R.G. Endres Gallery October 2003

The MAPS 6th Annual Small Paintings Show was on exhibit at the Prairie Village Municipal Offices gallery during the month of October, 2003. Opening Reception was Friday, October 3, 2003 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This very popular exhibit offers framed pastel paintings 8" x 10" or smaller, including landscapes, still lifes, florals, figures and wildlife.

MAPS Members Elect General Officers for 2003-4

Election of Officers for the 2003 Membership year was held at the January Meeting of The MidAmerica Pastel Society, in Prairie Village, Kansas. Elected Officers are listed below:

Painting by MAPS Member Candy Whitman to Represent Society at IAPS Convention, March 25, 2003

The general membership of MAPS present at the March meeting voted on one of seven potential paintings rendered by its members to represent The MidAmerica Pastel Society at the upcoming Annual Convention for the International Association of Pastel Societies to be held in Alburquerque, NM in May, 2003.

"Evening Correspondence", a still-life composition by Candy Whitman was chosen to represent MAPS at the event.

 

Drawing for Rembrandt 150-stick Set Donated by Coldsnow's Artists Materials Won by Mike Walsh, February 25, 2003

At the beginning of 2003, Coldsnow's Artist Materials in Westport, MO donated a set of Rembrandt pastels to The MidAmerica Pastel Society. Donations of $2.00 were collected and a lucky member's name was selected to win the 150-pastel set at February's meeting. Congratulations to Mike Walsh--and many happy paintings!

Opening Reception 5th Annual MAPS Show

 

MAPS Fifth Annual Small Painting Show, October 29 through November 26, 2002 in Prairie Village, Kansas

MAPS and PASA members currently have 104 small paintings on exhibit at the R. G. Endres Gallery at the Prairie Village City Hall Building located at 7700 Mission Road in Prairie Village, Kansas.  The Artist Reception held Friday, November 1st, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. was well-attended, and proved yet again, to be a popular event. Town & Country Bank Show, 4707 W. 135th Street

Town & Country Bank is hosting a show of 15 Johnson County MAPS members.  The show opened Wednesday, October 16th and runs through Wednesday, November 20th, 2002.  The show includes artists: Donna Aldridge, Beverly Carden Amundson, Nancy Basinski, Ardis Burley, Donna Carrington, JoAnne Christensen, Jody Drake, Tracie Drake, Dell Godbold, Mary Mayfield, Lorraine Murray, Beverly Rose, Kathleen Shanahan, Marcia Streepy and Bobbi Toyne.

 

William Woods University—MAPS Members-Only Juried Show August 19 through September 29, 2002 in Fulton, Missouri

Thirty-seven MAPS members currently have 113 works on exhibit at the Mildred M. Cox Gallery at William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri.  Many MAPS members traveled the 160+ miles from the Kansas City area to Fulton to attend the Artist Reception held Sunday, September 8th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  An estimated 130 guests, students and patrons attended the Sunday event.  The show continues through September. Johnson County 50+ Parks & Recreation 2nd Annual Plein Air Painting Event, October 12-13, 2002, Shawnee Mission Park

The Johnson County 50+ Parks & Recreation 2nd Annual Plein Air Painting Event took place October 12-13, 2002 at Shawnee Mission Park.  This event was co-sponsored by the Mid-America Pastel Society and the Greater Kansas City Art Association.  Click for full story.

 

Albrecht-Kemper Museum 2002 MAPS Juried Member Exhibition, April 19-June 2, 2002, St. Joseph, MO

St. Joseph, MO – April 19th through June 2nd, 2002.  There were fifty-three paintings from 26 MAPS members in the Albrecht-Kemper Show which opened April 19th.  Our thanks to Loreta Feeback, Show Chairman, for all her hard work getting the slides organized, shipped, shorted, letters written, etc. to make this show happen.  The show was juried by Larry Blovits, PSA.
